1916 G$1 McKinley MS66 PCGS. The 1916 and 1917 William McKinley Memorial gold dollars are not among the most popular of U.S. commemorative coins, in part due to poor marketing and unsatisfactory distribution. In an April 17, 2006 Coin World article entitled "The Forgettable Coins Fueled Popular Tourist Attraction," however, staff writer Emily Mullins says: " ... proceeds from the coins did help in the creation of the William McKinley Birthplace Memorial, which has since become a popular tourist attraction in honor of the late president." Dazzling luster emanates from the apricot-gold surfaces of the Premium Gem example being offered in this lot, and a well executed strike brings out excellent definition on the design elements. Both sides are devoid of any significant marks. Housed in a green-label holder.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
