1916-D 5C MS65 PCGS. This medium gray example is moderately bright with full, shimmering mint luster. There is no distracting carbon to report, nor do the surfaces reveal any other mentionable post-production features. Evidence of die wear (as produced) is seen on the obverse--a not uncommon feature for the type. The 1916-D was produced to the extent of 13.3 million pieces. This is not a particularly low total for a D-mint issue in this series, but, while lower grade examples are relatively obtainable, Gems are rare and always in demand among specialists. From The BTB Collection of Buffalo Nickels.
