1916-D 1C MS65 Red PCGS. This lovely, f
1916-D<1C> MS65 Red PCGS. This lovely, fully Red Gem example of a collectible early D-mint semi-key is sure to make some Lincoln aficionado's pulse rate increase. The strike is bold despite this coin's status as a World War I issue, with none of the weakness sometimes seen, especially on the reverse. Lincoln's beard, coat, and hair details are all sculptural, and the motto, legends, and wheat ears on the reverse are pleasingly intact. The pretty color ranges from reddish-tan to orange-crimson, and there are only a few dark toning flecks of the most trivial sort seen under a loupe. Were it not for a pair of crisscross contact marks on Lincoln's cheek, this coin might qualify for an even higher grade, but as it is this is a collectible and high-end coin. Population: 39 in 65, 4 finer (3/06).
