1916-D<10C> MS64 Full Bands PCGS. The 1916-D Dime is probably the most famous issue of the denomination, better known than the unique 1873-CC No Arrows Dime, the extremely rare 1894-S Dime, and the much hyped "Little Orphan Annie" 1844 Dime. While Mercury Dime specialists are also well aware of the scarcity of the 1919-D or 1926-S in high Mint State grades, it is the appearance of the low mintage 1916-D that commands the attention of the collector. The present lustrous near-Gem has beautiful light golden-brown peripheral toning, and the preservation is exemplary despite a couple of wispy marks near the eye and forehead. The strike is not quite 100% full in the centers, but the eye appeal is formidable, and it will take any Mercury Dime collection to the next level of importance.
From The Clearfield Collection.
