Walter Breen cites three hoarders in particular: A.C. Gies, William Pukall, and Wayte Raymond. Despite their efforts, demand for the 1916-D dime has outpaced supply for decades, and for low-grade and high-grade pieces alike, this is unlikely to change.<BR> This attractively toned Choice example has excellent definition throughout and deeply impressed bands on the fasces. The satiny surfaces have mottled gray-russet toning with deep blue scattered around the margins. Only a handful of noticeable marks appear on each side, and the strong visual appeal puts this coin temptingly close to Gem status.
