1916 Buffalo 5C. Dbld Die Obv NGC EF45
<Our item number 135036>1916 Buffalo Nickel. Doubled die obverse. NGC graded EF-45. Lightly toned. Popular variety. Though in high demand today, this intriguing doubled die error lay unnoticed for more than forty years its production. The first published report (per David Lange, 2000) appeared in a 1962 edition of The Numismatic Scrapbook. Today, circulated examples number as few as 150 coins. There are several Mint States reported and they are even rarer.

Given the standing of this error nickel in the estimation of 21st century collectors, the attractive Extremely Fine 45 example that we offer should be very desirable to an advanced buffalo nickel collector from many viewpoints. The surfaces are a natural gray color and free from spotting or marks. The doubling on the digits in the date is plain to the naked eye. Other areas of the design show the doubling as well, including the Indian's feathers and lower part of the hair, the braid, the end of the nose, lips and chin, and elsewhere. We unhesitatingly proclaim this attractive coin as one of the foremost buffalo nickel varieties in demand today. Pop 9; 40 finer.
Estimated Value $20,000 - 22,000.

Our item number 135036
<IMAGES>

</IMAGES>
