1916 Brooklyn Robins Oversized Team Photograph from the Casey Stengel Collection. Exceptionally crisp and clear image pictures the first squad to bring the National League flag home to Ebbets. A paper arrow affixed to the face points out a young Casey, who sits at the left shoulder of another Hall of Fame manager, the great Wilbert Robinson. Detail is simply remarkable, from the fantastic windowpane pattern of the team's home flannels, to the men in dark suits that watch the proceedings from the pedestrian walkway above the field box seats. Image size is 11x14", and photo is affixed to a cardboard mount that brings total dimensions to 16x20". Note that condition is exactly as we found it in Casey's possessions, and this includes wear and chipping at the edges of the photo, which has come loose in spots from the mount. Tape stain running diagonally across the left side of the image may have held another affixed arrow or caption at one point, similar to the "Outfielder Casey" and "Brooklyn's First Pennant Winners, 1916" examples that remain. Clearly this enormous (for the era) photographic image was produced for presentation only to players and V.I.P.'s, and this is the only such example we have ever encountered. Quite possibly the only surviving specimen on earth.
