<B>1916 5C PR66 PCGS.</B></I> Given their low mintage of 600 pieces, the 1916 proofs are the rarest of the early period proof Buffalo nickels. David Lange (2006) writes that: "Some portion...was almost certainly consigned to oblivion when the Mint ceased sales of proof coins at the end of this year." This Premium Gem displays a blend of orange-gold and powder-blue, and lavender toning, along with crisply impressed devices. Both sides are devoid of significant marks.
