1916 5C PR65 ANACS. The Mint officially ceased proof Buffalo Nickel sales at the end of 1916. The proof issue of this year started out with a limited mintage of 600 pieces, and it seems likely that many examples were destroyed as unsold at year's end. We have little difficulty, therefore, in labeling the 1916 as the rarest proof Buffalo Nickel of the 1913-1916 era. An obviously important Gem, this coin displays bright, mostly silver-gray surfaces with some delicate golden iridescence toward the upper and lower borders. There is not a single ill-defined feature on either side, and distracting carbon spots, as well as grade-limiting handling marks, are also absent. Worthy of inclusion in the finest specialized collection. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. Sometimes eBay Premier live bid software cannot keep up with that pace, so we strongly recommend that you place a realistic proxy bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Also please note that all Heritage/CAA lots purchased through eBay Premier carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions.
