1916 25C MS66 Full Head PCGS. Formerly sold as lot 5630 in our 2002 February Long Beach Sale, where it was described as, "The 1916 Standing Liberty Quarter is one of the most widely recognized rarities in 20th century U.S. numismatics. Only 52,000 pieces were struck and very few were saved, most Americans at the time being preoccupied with events in Europe. This is one of the finest examples we have ever offered. The mint luster is bright and frosted, this easily being the most dominant visual feature on this coin. Lightly toned, there is just a bit of golden-olive peripheral color present around the obverse rim. The reverse shows very little coloration. As one would imagine from the grade, there are no obvious or detracting abrasions on either side of this lovely coin." Population: 10 in 66, 3 finer (10/02).
