1916<25C> MS64 Full Head PCGS. The devices display powder-blue patina, while the fields exhibit gentle apricot shades. Autumn-brown freckles lightly adorn the borders. The cartwheel luster is unbroken, and both sides appear immaculate to the naked eye. Inspection beneath a glass detects nearly imperceptible hairlines that have no effect on the undeniable eye appeal. The strike is evenly brought up throughout. Not only does the 1916 Standing Liberty quarter have the lowest mintage of the type, but its closest competitor, the 1927-S, has a production more than seven times higher. Among 20th century issues of the denomination, only the 1913-S Barber quarter has a lower mintage, at 40,000 pieces versus the 52,000 coins struck for the single-year subtype 1916 Standing Liberty.
From The Troy Wiseman Collection.
