1916 25C MS62 PCGS. The transitional ye
1916<25C> MS62 PCGS. The transitional year 1916 Standing Liberty quarter ranks among the most sought-after 20th century silver issues in all grades because it is the first year of the series and its low mintage of 52,000 pieces. This lightly toned Mint State representative exhibits a pebbly, matte-like texture, presumably from having been struck from rusty dies (J. H. Cline, Standing Liberty Quarters). Silver-gray surfaces display whispers of light tan patina that is slightly deeper on the reverse. The reverse side is relatively well defined, but the obverse displays the usual weakness on the shield and stars; better-than-usual (though not full) definition is seen on the head. There are no mentionable marks to report on either side, just a somewhat muted appearance that appears to limit the grade.
