1916 25C MS61 NGC. The 1916 Standing Liberty quart 1916[25C] MS61 NGC.
1916<25C> MS61 NGC. The 1916 Standing Liberty quarter is a transitional issue as Barber quarters were also struck in this year. It ranks among the most sought-after 20th century silver issues in all grades, not only because of its first-year, transitional status, but because of its absolute rarity as one can easily see from the small mintage of only 52,000 pieces. Not quite fully struck, as is often the case with 1916 quarters; softness appears on Liberty's head and shield, and on the lower obverse stars. Bright surfaces exhibit thin wisps of barely discernible sky-blue patina, and hints of light gold-tan color around the borders. The surfaces are relatively well preserved, revealing just a minor linear abrasion on Liberty's cheek and another on the inner shield. A few trivial marks are also noted on the left (facing) gate.
From The Thomas Wolfe Collection, Part One.
