1916<25C> MS60 ANACS. Orange and lilac colors bathe this shimmering and sharply struck representative. The glossy surfaces are surprisingly void of contact, given its basal Mint State designation. The 1916 Standing Liberty Quarter, of course, is one of the most famous 20th century U.S. coins, not only because of its rarity (just 52,000 pieces were struck) but its historical importance as the first issue of the series. The 1916 is also a one year subtype, since subtle design details differ from the 1917-dated Type One issues. Similar to the High Relief Double Eagle, the 1916 Standing Liberty is always available for a price, but that price is justified by its immense popularity among collectors.
