1916 25C AU50 PCGS. Struck late in 1916, only 52,000 pieces were produced of this first-year issue. Most slipped quietly into circulation and the Type One 1917 quarters followed quickly on the heels of the 1916's appearance in the channels of commerce. When the Type Two quarters appeared later in the year, the public began to hoard the Type One 1917 coins, and once again little attention was given to the 1916. This is a premium example for the grade with light, even rub over the highpoints. The surfaces are evenly toned in pale lavender with occasional lilac undertones noted. A few handling marks are seen on the obverse where Liberty's sports a couple of neck nicks, and we note a scuff just below her right arm. The reverse is remarkably clean for the grade. An excellent choice for the date collector who demands quality and desires a coin which few can best.
