1915-S $2 1/2 Panama-Pacific Quarter Eagle MS64 PCGS. The quarter eagle representative of a series of silver and gold coins that were struck in conjunction with the 1915 exposition held in San Francisco to celebrate the opening of the Panama Canal. Peach-gold color in the central areas is framed by wisps of apricot along the margins, and a solid strike translates to well defined motifs. Some minor obverse luster grazes preclude a higher grade. Purchased in the 1930's at face value by Karl Stecher Sr. from coins turned in by the public as per President Roosevelt's March 9, 1933 directive. An old-time envelope marked "1915 Panama Pacific $2.50" accompanies.
From The Stecher Collection.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
