1915-D 5C MS66 PCGS. The eye appeal is extraordinary, each side displaying dominant antique-gold patina with blushes of salmon-pink iridescence intermingled toward the borders. Although the 1915-D as an issue is the first poorly struck Buffalo Nickel from the Denver Mint (per Lange, 2000), the present example is sharply detailed throughout. The surfaces are problem-free save for some scattered flyspecks, all of which are faint, and none of which are individually distracting. The 1915-D (7.5 million pieces produced), while somewhat scarce in lower grades, should only really be considered rare in grades at or above the Gem threshold. Population: 15 in 66, there are just two finer (10/02).From The BTB Collection of Buffalo Nickels. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour.
