<B>1915<5C> PR67 PCGS.</B></I> Like the matte proof Lincoln cents, the matte proof Buffalo nickels proved unpopular, and mintages continued to slide until the coinage was discontinued in 1916. A mere 1,050 specimens were minted for 1915, and this Superb Gem easily ranks among the best-preserved survivors. The satiny nickel-gray surfaces have hints of blue and gold and are extraordinarily clean. The crisp strike reveals a few die lines below the bison's body. An incredible coin, worthy of a strong bid. PCGS has certified just one finer example (9/06).
