1915<5C> PR66 PCGS. Walter Breen (1988) writes that the 1915 proof usually shows an arcing die crack on the bison's shoulder and chest, though David Lange (2000) says that he has observed this crack only rarely. The Premium Gem example offered in the present lot displays a fine crack arcing from the bison's belly over the shoulder before ending at the neck. An attractive melange of gray-gold, lime-green, lavender, crimson, and yellow-gold coloration bathes satiny surfaces that have been well cared for. An excellent strike is apparent throughout, with only the letters in LIBERTY revealing the slightest hint of softness. Great overall eye appeal!
