1915 50C PR67 NGC. By the end of the Barber design, fewer and fewer collectors acquired proof examples from the Mint, and the 450 specimens struck for this final-year issue was the second-lowest mintage for the series. (In 1914, only 380 pieces were issued, the lowest such value for the denomination since 1858.) Though many numismatists of past generations warmed to Barber halves only slowly, many enthusiasts study and collect the series today.
Though the NGC Census Report cites five examples with higher grades, it is difficult to imagine any of those coins having the present piece's visual appeal (4/07). The obverse displays outer bands of green-gold and aqua around a fuchsia and orange center, while the reverse displays deeper target toning with concentric bands of rose, orange, yellow, and blue-green around an azure center. Through the rich patina, the fields retain watery reflectivity.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
