1915 $5 Indian
<Our item number 105840>1915 $5 Indian. PCGS graded MS-64 PQ. Lovely shades of golden toning. An extremely lustrous Indian five with fiery orange-gold frost atop a rich warm base of toning. The Indian's cheek plays host to a satiny, mark-free smoothness quite uncommon with this issue. A lovely coin to say the least, one that certainly meets the qualifications for the MS64 grade and then some. Pop 334; 29 finer in 65. (PCGS # 8530).

The obverse portrays Brule Lakota Chief Hollow Horn Bear, who had taken part in Pres. Theodore Roosevelt's inaugural parade, March 4, 1905. The Chief died March 15, 1913, age 54, at Providence Hospital, according to the notice in the April 1913 Numismatist, which misidentified him as the model for the 1899 $5 Silver Certificates. His true identity as Boston sculptor Bela Lyon Pratt's model for the 1908-29 half eagles first came to light in an exhibit in the 1988 ANA Convention.
Estimated Value $4,000-4,500.
Ex Dr. Hesselgesser.

Our item number 105840
<IMAGES>

</IMAGES>
