<Our item number 133877>1915 $20 St. Gaudens. NGC graded Proof 65. Housed in NGC holder 1578899-001. A clear bold strike. Only 50 Proofs minted. Gorgeous sandblast finish leaves the surface with a smooth, matte finish. The 1915 double eagle is a key in the short run of Matte Proof Saint-Gaudens double eagle, a very popular coin when it has been offered for sale in public auction, which is only rarely. Not only is it desirable in an absolute sense which its rarity implies, with as few as 30 pieces known today out of an low total of only 50 coins, it happens to be recognized in the numismatic community as a condition rarity as well.

The surfaces of this Gem continue the "look" of the 1914 Proofs with a coarse grain sand-blast texture. The color is pale reddish gold. There are no marks to be found. There are, however, a few faint hairlines. Otherwise, the coin more than earns its coveted Proof 65 assignment from NGC with full applause from all who have the good fortune to view it in person, or we misjudge the situation! It clearly stands among the finer examples known (for which, see the following population figures), being surpassed by only 7 others in the NGC census. Our impressive offering of Proof coinage gives the buyer of Saint-Gaudens gold a choice of attractive twenties. Bidders will long remember this sterling example of the very rare 1915 date. Pop 12; 7 finer, 6 in 66, 1 in 67 (PCGS # 9212).
Estimated Value $50,000 - 55,000.

Our item number 133877
<IMAGES>

</IMAGES>
