1915 $20 PR64 PCGS. Despite a tiny production of just 50 pieces, there doesn't appear to be an appreciable drop-off in the number of proof twenties extant from the previous seven years. Our best estimates places the number of survivors in the vicinity of 30 coins. By 1915 officials at the United States Mint were no doubt keenly aware that the European-inspired matte proofing process had been a dismal failure in the eyes of collectors and the practice was discontinued after this year. This Choice specimen displays the coarse finish and olive-gold color that is characteristic of the issue. There is a pinpoint alloy stain on the left side of Liberty's robe, but even close inspection yields no obvious hairlines or shiny spots. An important opportunity for the 20th century gold specialist. Population: 8 in 64, 1 finer (11/06).

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
