1915 $10 MS67 NGC. This is one of the plentiful dates in the series, from a mintage of 351,000 coins, and yet it is virtually impossible to locate in Gem quality. Noted gold coinage authority David Akers commented about this issue: "True gems are rare but are seen more often than all but a handful of the series' 32 issues. In addition to the MS65 quality coins, there are also a small number of superb MS67 quality specimens known, including several nearly perfect ones." While we are not certain that Mr. Akers actually saw this particular coin, it certainly qualifies as a nearly perfect example. Both sides have fully brilliant yellow-gold luster with frosty surfaces. Hints of pinkish toning complement the color of this Superb Gem. The reverse has a few tiny copper toning spots, but these are hidden in the design work, and not readily apparent. No finer examples of this date have been certified, and, in fact, this is only the fourth Superb Gem example that has appeared in any of our auctions since 1993. Census: 4 in 67, 0 finer (12/06).

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
