1914-S $5 MS63 PCGS. Well struck overall, the design elements are bold in virtually all areas. The S mintmark is little more than a blob, but this is a characteristic feature of the issue. Orange-gold color gives way to steel-green undertones in the fields. Small abrasions are scattered over each side.
The 1914-S Indian half eagle is one of the most prized condition rarities among gold issues from the 20th century, probably being the only contender capable of challenging the 1911-D half eagle for top rarity honors. To illustrate this point: the two major services have certified 49 pieces of the 1911-D at MS63, and 28 finer. Only 28 examples of the 1914-S are graded at MS63, with just 12 coins higher (10/06).
From The Dr. Eugene Cherny Collection of $5 and $10 Indians.

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
