1914-S $5 MS62 PCGS. A perusal of the PCGS/NGC population/census data indicates that 1914-S half eagles are difficult to locate above the MS62 grade level. This can perhaps be attributed, at least in part, to what Jeff Garrett and Ron Guth (2006) assert: " ... the luster tends to be muted and the eye appeal challenged." The example offered for sale in the current lot exhibits soft luster and well defined devices, and has an attractive peach-gold layer over both sides. Contact marks on the Indian's portrait and in the raised, exposed fields appear to be the grade-limiting factor. Rather nice overall appeal.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
