1914-S $20 MS66 PCGS. The large mintage of the 1914-S double eagle (nearly 1.5 million pieces) is a good indicator of its availability, unlike many issues of the Saint-Gaudens series. It apparently escaped the mass meltings of the 1930s, as evidenced by the several thousand examples that have been certified by the grading services. Premium Gem coins, however, such as the one described here, do not show up as often, and higher grade pieces are virtually unobtainable. Apricot-gold surfaces display radiant luster and sharply executed motifs, and the few minor marks on each side do not betray the MS66 designation. A nice all-around coin. Population: 62 in 66, 0 finer (10/06).
From The Kutasi Collection.

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
