1914-S<1C> MS65 Red PCGS. An important rarity in the Lincoln Cent series in Gem condition, certainly much more elusive than its 1914-D brother. This sharply struck Gem has pale orange color with a few wisps of toning on both sides. According to the commentary of David Lange in The Complete Guide to Lincoln Cents, this is quite an unusual example, as it is both sharply struck and brilliant. Lange commented: "A deterrent to finding a desirable coin is the conflict between strike and color. It seems that sharply struck coins are invariably dark, while the few bright examples tend to be mushy."
From The Ron Bozarth Registry Collection.
