1914-S<$10> MS64 NGC. A moderate mintage ensured a small but adequate supply of survivors, but those surviving examples generally grade in the About Uncirculated range. Seldom are examples seen in near-Gem or finer condition. Fortunately, when high-grade Uncirculated examples are encountered, they usually show better luster than on earlier branch mint issues. This piece is no exception, with deep, unbroken luster emanating from lovely yellow-gold surfaces that are essentially distraction-free, save for a couple of trivial, grade-consistent contact marks. The reverse fields show a "halo" effect around the central device, and the strike is bold, although not absolute. An appealing example of this better date within the series.
From The Clifton Rodenburg Collection.
