1914-D 5C MS66 PCGS. The 1914-D (3.9 million pieces), while undeniably scarce in Mint State, is one of the more plentiful early Buffalo Nickels at that level of preservation. Premium quality Gems, of course, are rare with PCGS reporting just 25 coins in MS66 and a mere four finer (10/02). The eye appeal of the present representative is nothing short of breathtaking. Frosty textured and sharply impressed features are fully appreciable beneath layers of blue-gray, orange, gold, and reddish-lilac patina. There is not a single bothersome abrasion; a die crack (as struck) is noted on the obverse over the Indian's jaw. From the BTB Collection of Buffalo Nickels.
