Many Mint State survivors came out of a hoard that Breen mentions in his 1988 Encyclopedia, but he doesn't expound on the origin of this group. The author does note, however, that virtually all of these hoard coins were extensively bagmarked. An attractive and uncommonly smooth representative, the present example exhibits mottled golden-rose and honey-tan color on both sides. There is some light granularity to the texture, and the surfaces are lightly abraded with a singularly mentionable reverse distraction through E PLURIBUS UNUM. Sharply detailed over all other features, the D mintmark displays typical softness. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. Sometimes eBay Premier live bid software cannot keep up with that pace, so we strongly recommend that you place a realistic proxy bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Also please note that all Heritage/CAA lots purchased through eBay Premier carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions.
