1914-D $2 1/2 MS64 ANACS. Survivors from the Denver Mint's delivery of 448,000 Indian Quarter Eagles
1914-D $2 1/2 MS64 ANACS. Survivors from the Denver Mint's delivery of 448,000 Indian Quarter Eagles in 1914 typically grade no finer than MS63. Writing in 2001, Mike Fuljenz and Doug Winter (A Collector's Guide to Indian Head Quarter Eagles) estimated that 2,284-3,199 1914-D Quarter Eagles are extant at the MS60-63 grade levels, as opposed to just 175-250 coins in MS64 and 40-50 examples at the MS65 level. Whereas most '14-D Quarter Eagles are softly impressed, the ANACS-certified example that we are offering here is boldly detailed over the obverse headdress and the reverse eagle. Even the mintmark is sharp, this despite evidence of die buckling around the peripheries. Frosty in finish with warm reddish-gold color, this coin is sure to elicit strong bids from advanced specialists. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. Sometimes eBay Premier live bid software cannot keep up with that pace, so we strongly recommend that you place a realistic proxy bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Also please note that all Heritage/CAA lots purchased through eBay Premier carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions.
