1914-D 1C MS65 Red PCGS. A luscious original of this always-popular key-date issue, produced to the extent of only 1.193 million examples during the pre-World War I era. Unlike the 1909-S, VDB issue, few pieces were saved at the time of issue, and most examples slipped quietly into circulation. Not until the 1930s was the true rarity recognized, by which time few Mint State coins remained. Even circulated examples are uncommon. The present example boasts beautiful orange-red surfaces that likely appear much as they did when this coin was made 92 years ago. The few tiny dark flecks seen under a glass are much less severe than normal, so this coin maintains both its enormous eye appeal and Gem ranking. The reverse is particularly well struck and attractive, and the obverse shows just a touch of weakness at the edge of Lincoln's coat, near the date. Population: 54 in 65 Red, 3 finer (11/06).

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
