1914-D 1C MS64 Brown PCGS. The 1914-D was considered a rarity as early as the 1930s, when it was tied in value to the often overlooked 1914-S. However, it really came into its own in the 1950s and 1960s when thousands of people nationwide began to sort through rolls and bags looking for this and the 1909-S VDB. The surfaces on this piece are very sharply struck, showing much finer detail on the obverse than usually seen. Bright and glossy with mottled darker brown specks of color over the lighter reddish-brown mint luster, this is a very attractive example of this key issue that still retains faint underlying traces of mint red. Population: 22 in 64, 4 finer (9/02). Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour.
