1914<50C> PR61 NGC. Sharply struck with glittering mirror fields. As is typical of many proof Barber half dollars of the era, Liberty's portrait is satiny, while the eagle motif is frosty. The obverse is almost fully brilliant with wisps and tinges of electric blue peripherally. The reverse exhibits pale golden toning. Some faint hairlines on both surfaces are probably all that prevented NGC from assigning a much higher grade. A scant 380 proof half dollars were issued during the year, by far the lowest production figure in the series (the 1915 comes in second with a mintage of 450 pieces).
