1913-S Barber Quarter Dollar PCGS MS64
With an original mintage of a mere 40,000 coins, it is no bolt from the blue to collectors that the 1913-S Barber Quarter has the lowest mintage of all non-gold, regular issue U.S. coins from the 20th century. A Red Book confirms this statement. The '13-S is one of the three most hard to get hold of issues in this series, along with the 1896-S and 1901-S. This coin is nicely toned and has a very pleasing aura to it from the lovely grays and "old silver" patina it acquired since it was made. The luster is full, with a glossy sheen, and the only mentionable distractions are a few tiny marks in the field. Although not as rare as the higher mintage 1901-S in top grades, the 1913-S is still a major date to locate as in this outstanding condition. A prize for the collector!
