1913-S 5C Type Two MS66 NGC. One of the key dates
1913-S 5C Type Two MS66 NGC. One of the key dates to the Buffalo nickel series. This is a superior example with a bold strike and a somewhat glossy surface appearance. Some of the typical striking anomalies for this date are in evidence, including a clash mark below the Indian's chin, another just left of UNUM on the reverse, and a little striking softness on the bison's head. All of these features are as produced, and do not affect the coin's technical grade. As far as eye appeal is concerned, this Gem does not suffer from any impediments, with glowing, lustrous surfaces which appear pristine, and soft golden color on both sides. The 1913-S Type Two nickel is nearly unobtainable above the MS66 level. As of February 2005, NGC and PCGS combined have certified a mere two pieces finer, and our auction records indicate that no specimens above MS66 have been offered by the major auction houses within the last ten years. Population: 14 in 66, 1 finer (2/05).
