<B>1913-S $20 MS65 PCGS.</B></I> This is one of the most important condition rarities in the entire Saint-Gaudens double eagle series. Jeff Garrett and Ron Guth write: "Quality control slipped a bit for this San Francisco issue, with many coins showing copper spots from improperly mixed alloys. The strikes also tend to be a challenge. With time and care, fully struck MS64 coins can be obtained, but in Gem MS65 grades, this date is very rare indeed." This brilliant Gem has satiny orange-gold luster with exceptional surfaces. The strike is decent, and the overall eye appeal is quite high. There are a few tiny abrasions and insignificant spots, all consistent with the grade that has been assigned.
