1913-S 1C MS65 Red PCGS. A well known semi-key da
1913-S<1C> MS65 Red PCGS. A well known semi-key date from the 1910s, the 1913-S was produced in not overly generous numbers (6.1 million pieces) for a 20th century U.S. Cent. In addition to indifferent luster, many Mint State survivors are limited in grade by inadequate striking quality. Not so the present Gem. The strike may not be 100% full, but it is overall sharp and well above average for the issue. Now for the surface preservation. Both sides are fully lustrous with a pleasing, medium intensity, golden-copper sheen. There are no bothersome abrasions to report, however, a number of slightly deeper toning spots are seen overall. Expect this coin to command a premium from interested bidders. Population: 42 in 65 Red, only two are finer (3/05).
From The Tom Mershon #2 All-Time PCGS Registry Set of Lincoln Wheat Cents.
