1913-S 1C MS65 Red NGC. Many of the 6.1 million 1913-S Cents originally produced entered circulation at the time of delivery. The last of these coins were retrieved by the 1960s, at which time they had acquired extensive wear. In Mint State, this issue is one of the semi-key dates in the long-lived Lincoln Cent series, and precious few survivors retain full mint red luster. The first MS65 Red example that we have offered since our May 2001 Central States Signature Sale, this lustrous Gem displays shimmering, golden-orange features that are undisturbed by either toning or distracting blemishes. As befits the issue, there is some striking softness over the upper reverse, but the obverse is noteworthy for the overall sharpness of detail.
