1913-D 5C Type One MS67 PCGS. As with many first-year
1913-D 5C Type One MS67 PCGS. As with many first-year issues, the 1913-D was produced in rather large numbers; in this case 5.3 million pieces were struck. While not rare in the absolute sense, it is, nevertheless a worthwhile issue in high grades (especially when compared to the 1913-P) and a moderate condition rarity. Indeed, PCGS and NGC combined have certified only 45 Superb Gem pieces, and one finer. This sharply struck specimen has a very thin film of pale ice-blue and champagne color on the obverse, and is dominated by deeper champagne toning on the reverse. Fully lustrous, matte-like surfaces are well preserved with no mentionable marks. Population: 36 in 67, 1 finer (1/06).
