1913 Charles Comiskey Signed Letter. The scandal of the 1919 World Series was so devastating for this Hall of Fame executive that he rarely came into the office following the banishment of Shoeless Joe and the gang, and had White Sox general manager Harry Grabiner sign his correspondence for him instead. Here we find a wonderful typed letter dating from six years before the Sox became Black, mailed to Cincinnati Reds owner August Hermann. He writes, "Your letter of June 16th received together with copy of letter from our mutual friend, Ebbets. I assure you it will afford me great pleasure to make the trip to Brooklyn for the dedication on July 15th, and will meet you at any place you state. With kindest personal regards, and wishing yourself and club every possible success, I remain, Very truly yours, Chas. A. Comiskey." Interestingly, Comiskey and Hermann would come to do battle in that notorious 1919 World Series, adding further appeal to this fine letter. Terrific team letterhead shows original mailing folds and only the slightest wear that does not affect display. Comiskey's closing signature rates a perfect 10/10. LOA from PSA/DNA.
