1913<5C> Type One PR67 NGC. A lovely matte proof striking of the premier Buffalo nickel delivery from the Philadelphia Mint. Exquisitely toned in apple-green, gold, rose, and lilac hues. The strike is razor sharp over all major design elements. Only the closely spaced letters in E PLURIBUS UNUM exhibit any detectable softness. Thorough evaluation locates only a single pinpoint toning fleck, beneath the jaw of the Native American. The pristine and obviously original surfaces should endear this coin to an advanced specialist who appreciates originality as well as technical quality. The 1913 Type One is requisite for a proof type collection, although the designs have been borrowed for various modern commemorative and bullion issues. Census: 34 in 67, 2 finer (9/06).
