1913<$20> MS65 PCGS. Most of the 1913 twenties were not saved from circulation and/or excessive bagging, the net result being most known examples are now MS63 or lower grades. This piece is undoubtedly one of the finer examples we have seen recently. The thick, satiny mint luster is covered with slightly variegated layers of yellow-gold, pink, orange, and green-gold patina. Well struck throughout without the often-seen "flatness" so often seen on these coins. This specimen would surely have graded even higher were it not for a couple of marks on the upper torso of Liberty and a lateral abrasion under the olive branch in the right obverse field. An amazingly well preserved specimen worthy of a fine collection. Population: 6 in 65, none are finer (9/05).
From The Phillip H. Morse Collection of Saint-Gaudens Coinage.
