1913 $20 MS65 NGC. One of the finest to survive of thi 1913[$20] MS65 NGC.
1913<$20> MS65 NGC. One of the finest to survive of this conditionally challenging year, with a mere handful that retain the surface quality necessary to earn a Gem grade from the services. Radiant luster abounds in the fields, and the strike is first rate. Even yellow-gold throughout, and a desirable coin that any numismatist will appreciate. While this date is not exactly rare, it is certainly a whole lot less available than many other hoard dates which are held by collectors and investors. Similar to the 1914 Philadelphia issue in terms of the number coined, with most of each date showing significant handling marks reducing them into grades of Choice or below. The present coin is a delightful exception, with satiny smooth surfaces and none of the usual heavy bagmarks which so often pepper the devices and fields. For identification purposes there is an insignificant nick on Liberty's chin, a prominent device which frequently shows handling ticks. On the reverse there is a minor scrape behind the eagle's mouth and these will serve to identify this rarity. The combined NGC and PCGS Population Reports tally 22 coins graded this high, with a single specimen graded finer of this date.
