1912 S81 Silks Howie Camnitz #99. Dubbed with the name "silks" due to the satin-like fabric upon which baseball figures' images were printed, the S81 issue is related to the better-known T3 Turkey Red cabinet cards of the same era. Twenty-five of the top baseball figures of the day were featured in this set, which was available as a premium with Helmar "Turkish Trophies" cigarettes. With few exceptions, the S81 silks feature the same imagery at the T3 issue, but the delicate nature of the silks make them far more scarce. You surely won't find a finer example than the Camnitz representation we present here, which has only the lightest touch of fraying at top and bottom and the faintest hint of toning at lower right to note. Otherwise we're strongly compelled to designate a NRMT rating here, which is almost unheard of for this scarce and tremendously condition sensitive set. 7x9".
