1912-S<5C> MS65 NGC. This issue is always in demand as the only Liberty Head nickel struck at the San Francisco Mint. Survivors are generally found only in Mint State grades, or extremely well worn, grading Very Good or less. Middle circulated grade examples, especially VF and XF grade coins, are virtually non-existent. Original uncleaned Mint State examples usually have attractive blue-gray or lilac-gray color. This example has that lovely lilac-gray color intermingled with attractive gold. The surfaces have the typical satiny luster found on nearly every example of this issue. It is also sharply struck with only the lower left part of the wreath showing any appreciable weakness.
