1912-S $5 MS64 PCGS. There are several scarce and rare dates in the Indian half eagle series, including this issue. Jeff Garrett and Ron Guth comment: "One of the classic rarities and most difficult issues to obtain in Mint State, the 1912-S issue has earned its reputation, which is quite a feat considering the number of rarities among the Indian Head half eagle series."
The present near-Gem specimen is a splendid exception to the usual rule, having excellent overall quality. Although the mintmark is a trifle weak, it is completely visible, and all other details on both sides are nicely defined. The surfaces have a few scattered marks that are expected for the grade. The luster is exceptional, with fully brilliant orange-gold frost. Population: 20 in 64, 1 finer (6/07).

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
