<B>1912-S $10 MS65 PCGS.</B></I> Like most of the S-mints from this decade, the 1912-S is an issue that is rarely seen in grades above MS64, and even then not that often. In Gem condition a mere 11 coins have been certified with three finer (11/06). The reason is not one of mintage, as 300,000 pieces were struck. Rather, most 1912-S eagles are weakly struck and luster is below average, two attributes that prevent even the cleanest examples from high grades. This coin has a strong strike on each side and the mint luster is comparable to other S-mints in the series. Both sides are covered with rich, deep reddish-gold color and the only (slightly) noticeable mark is located in the left obverse field out from the nose. Only 11 Gems have been certified by PCGS and NGC combined with a mere three pieces finer (11/06).
