1912-S $10 MS64 NGC. The attractive near-Gem offered here has vibrant luster with a hint of satin. The yellow-gold surfaces show subtle orange accents. While Liberty's portrait shows a touch of softness, typical for this notoriously poorly produced issue, the overall definition is far better than the norm. A handful of faint flaws on Liberty's cheek and in the fields account for the grade.
With a mintage of 300,000 pieces that experienced considerable attrition, the 1912-S has few survivors today, particularly in better Mint State grades. The vast majority of pieces offered range from About Uncirculated to Select. Choice examples are conditionally scarce, and NGC has certified only seven pieces as Gem or better (10/07).

Coin Engraver: Augustus Saint-Gaudens

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
